OUR STORY

John Planck founded the company in 1991 as the first specialist architectural ironmonger in Kent. The company commenced trading from Rochester and quickly established itself with local builders and contractors before developing relationships with architects and other specifiers in London and the South East, to become one of the country’s leading architectural hardware specialists providing hardware solutions for new and refurbished buildings.

John’s experience and status in the industry encouraged many manufacturers from both home and overseas, to be associated with the company helping us to expand even further the range of products we are still able to offer today. John Planck retired at the end of 2009 but the company is still going strong retaining his name and building on the reputation gained under his guidance.

Specialising in architectural hardware for doors and windows, the company also supplies access control, automatic and pocket door systems for, amongst others, residential, commercial and public building projects. It has access to products that satisfy all the demands and budgets of its clients.

From day one, we have been part of the Yorkshire based, family owned, Monaghan Group and immediately recognised that simply supplying high quality, fully compliant products at the right price was not enough to achieve the standard of customer care that our customers expect. Customer care is at the core of our business and we provide extensive after sales support for all of our products. This enables us to provide a local, specialised service whilst reaping the benefits from being part of an independent national group of companies.

We are now situated in the picturesque surroundings of the Historic Dockyard in Chatham where our team are at your disposal for any assistance you require.

AWARD WINNERS… Our products and services have been recognised by the industry, as is testified to by winning awards in the various categories at the bi-annual RIBA/GAI specification awards.  For more information please visit our Awards page.

In keeping with modern practices, we have been constantly evolving. In 2012, we moved out of our warehouse/office unit in Rochester, transferring the stock to our centralised warehouse facility which services our requirements on a next working day service as standard.

We have a unique scheduling service utilising icons and images which provides ‘at a glance’ documentation that simplifies the ordering process and offers flexible delivery and packaging to meet individual project requirements.

Our operating systems enable us to meet the industry’s increasing demand for speed of response and flexibility. They also enable us to provide specific packing and delivery requirements to site, be it from individual door packs to complete apartment or department packs, and from single deliveries to phased deliveries to the exact requirements of the project.
