On Friday 15th July, we were delighted to be joined by employees past and present, customers and suppliers as we celebrated surpassing 25 years of successful trading. Hosted at our ‘home’, the fabulous Historic Dockyard in Chatham, the backdrop made for a truly magical evening as guests explored HMS Gannet and the Commissioner’s House.
Looking back over the last quarter of a century, to when John Planck founded an ironmongery business in 1991, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. In that time we’ve had the privilege of working with with some of the UK’s most renowned architects, designers and building contractors. We’ve taken on some amazing jobs including the multi-award winning Royal Opera House refurbishment as well as numerous other prestigious developments in Kent, London and the rest of the country and overseas.
However, our reputation has not been built on projects alone. At John Planck Ltd it’s our people who build the relationships, go the extra mile and ensure the top level of quality in everything we do. This party was our chance to thank everyone for their loyalty and commitment and recognise the years of hard work they’ve given us.
In addition, it was fantastic to see so many clients having a great time and getting to meet all the people at John Planck Ltd who help get their jobs across the finish line! This included our network of trusted suppliers, many of whom we have been working with since day one.
As we look to the future and the next 25 years, our MD Tom Planck also took the opportunity to recognise and celebrate his father, Mr John Planck’s endeavours and achievements when he addressed the guests on board the ship HMS Gannet.
Having given a brief overview of the history of the company, Tom said: “The most important thank you goes to “Dad” – without your vision and foresight, your positivity, your daring and bravery, none of us would be here today so on behalf of past and present colleagues: thank you”
John’s experience and status in the industry has undoubtedly contributed to our success and, despite retiring in 2009, his vision for the company lives on through the next generation, his sons Tom and Alex.

“Just a few lines to say thank you for inviting me to Friday’s celebrations. I was honoured and privileged to be part of what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It was great to meet up with colleagues old and new and good to see you and your team as always. I know I mentioned it on the evening itself, but top marks as well with your speech, absolutely full of admiration to you for that. Some big hitters in our industry of course were in attendance, so again well done.”
John Planck Ltd would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate with us and who have supported us over the years. We look forward to working more together in the future.
