This Friday will see Medway’s most exciting, innovative and successful independent businesses come together for a fantastic night of celebration and recognition at The Medway Business Awards. We are over the moon to have been shortlisted and, following a recent visit from some of the judges to better understand what we do and what makes us so unique, we are looking forward to being amongst fellow business leaders and entrepreneurs.
Tom Planck, Managing Director, says “Since my father founded the business 25 years ago, the company has relied on building on good, personal relationships with people around us. Whether that’s local architects and developers, fellow Kent business owners, friends, and family or loyal customers and suppliers. For small businesses to thrive in today’s economy, it’s crucial that we continue to support each other locally.”
We are incredibly proud to be based at The Historic Dockyard in Chatham and to have developed some fantastic relationships with local businesses, customers, and suppliers. The Medway business community has grown phenomenally since these awards were launched 32 years ago. They were aimed at giving the area back some of the self-esteem lost at the closure of the naval dockyard and other manufacturing industries.
Today the awards are a celebration of what regeneration means. Medway now has a magnificent university campus in partnership with four universities of which three are sponsors for these awards. Additionally, there is a proactive vocational college delivering much-needed skills to the area. The business parks are thriving. Diversity and new technologies abound. Many of the small companies trade in the global market.
One of the award sponsors, Handelsbanken said: “We are delighted to sponsor the Medway Business Awards and play our small part in highlighting and supporting some of the amazing and diverse businesses operating across the Medway area.”
