We attended the 2016/2017 GAI/RIBA Specification Awards to help celebrate and acknowledge the good and great of the architectural ironmongery specifications in the splendid setting of Florence Hall at RIBA’s London headquarters in Portland Place.

With the architects of our nominated projects: Wilkinson Eyre for “New Bodleian Library”, and Brimelow McSweeney for “Hop House” in attendance as well, we achieved an incredible 2nd place in the “Public Health & Education” category for the “New Bodleian Library” and 3rd place in the “Residential” category for “Hop House”.

Managing Director Tom Planck commented: “We are chuffed to bits with our awards for coming 2nd and 3rd for the two projects nominated in these awards.  The standard of projects we were up against was very high so to achieve these is a very commendable result …… but, the good work doesn’t stop there so we’re already moving on to the next projects for inclusion in the awards in 2 years’ time hopefully!”

The awards which are designed to identify and reward excellence in the specification of architectural ironmongery, are held bi-annually and are widely acknowledged to showcase the architectural ironmongery at its beautiful best, enhancing not only the security, accessibility and fire safety of the building, but also adding to its functionality and longevity.  As the awards are for the whole specification team, it highlights the importance of a collaboration between the architect and architectural ironmonger.
